The Secret Book Society by Madeline Martin
In London, 1895, a group of women receive invitations to tea at Lady Duxbury’s home. It’s really a gathering of a secret book club. Lady Duxbury uses it to bring together a few women who are trapped by circumstance in oppressive marriages with ridiculous societal demands.
As they gather, they form a bond and discover secrets, some are dangerous and they have to navigate accordingly.
This was a great story. The characters were interesting and a delight to get to know. The narrative was intriguing and the use of literature to bring out the characters’ personalities was a great touch! I really enjoyed this one. 4/5⭐
