If I Run

If I Run by Terri Blackstock
Casey Cox was scarred in childhood by the tragic death of her father. Questions have remained unanswered.
The police have failed her.
Her friend is killed and her DNA is all over the crime scene. She can read the writing on the wall and she runs.
Dylan Roberts, a veteran, is hired to find Casey. The crime scene doesn’t add up and he doesn’t think Casey fits the profile of a cold blooded killer.
Dylan thinks she is innocent, but why did she run? There’s more to the story and a truth to uncover with danger lurking.
I really enjoyed this one. It is fast paced and the plot moves the reader right through the story.
Terri Blackstock is a masterful storyteller of Christian suspense! 5/5⭐

The Last Exchange

The Last Exchange by Charles Martin

Mac Thomas Pockets – what a name! …and yet, a memorable character.

Maybe Joe Sue, also a unique name, and a completely unforgettable character as well.

This was a slow burn in the beginning and the timeline flip-flop was a little confusing in the beginning – BUT as with all of Charles Martin’s stories, it was awesome!

When “Pockets” is hired as a bodyguard for “Joe”, he gets more than he bargained for. Projecting the perfect Hollywood image, Joe’s family life is far from ideal or perfect.

Struggling with infertility and burying her pain with pills, Joe hits rock bottom and Pockets steps in.

This was a truly phenomenal love story that will hit your heart like a brick. Just read it!

This wasn’t my favorite because it’s hard to leave Murphy behind in the The Keeper series. Murphy is my hero but Pockets comes in close! This was so good! 4.5/5⭐

The Keeper

The Keeper by Charles Martin
Murphy Sheperd shows up and shows out in this book! His side kick is the real hero that shows up every time – Gunner is awesome! Every great story has an epic dog and this one is phenomenal!
In this new one, Murphy faces down the worst kind of evil while he is recovering from the loss of his mentor.
“Love shows up!” Best message ever!
This story is heart-wrenching and will keep you on the edge until the end with some mind-blowing twists!
My only critique is that some parts were so long in recounting previous volumes, I sometimes had to heck to see if I was still listening to the latest book.
I truly loved this whole series!
The narrator did a phenomenal job giving depth and personality to the characters. The characters are so beautifully developed. You will fall in love with the whole cast of characters.
Brilliant writing and a beautiful mellow voice in the narration!
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review the ARC of this title and thank you so much for introducing me to a new favorite author with an amazing series! 5/5⭐

Where Secrets Lie by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker
This was a phenomenal book!
Savannah Webster tries to put her life back on track with a second chance for her ex-husband, Hez. She believes they are ready until she finds evidence that his past demons are back. With their complex family issues, they also face the danger of taking on an international smuggling ring that the University is entangled with.

There is so much suspense packed in and I was hooked early on! This is the second book in the Tupelo Grove series. Hez is still my favorite character!
The story is so well layered with wonderful characters that are so well developed, the reader just exists as part of the story. I loved it! I can’t wait for more! The duo of writers is truly gifted, the writing is seamless.

Charles Martin has a gift with his story telling. The beautiful descriptions of Florida took me back to a place I love. I was right there in the story!
Gunner, a white Labrador, is easily the hero in this tale and I love a good book that celebrates a canine hero!

The narration was wonderful and gave depth and enjoyment to the experience of enjoying the book!

love, unscripted

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter
As a result of a bad romance, Chloe Anderson scripted her perfect boyfriend in the pages of her best selling novel. The book was so well received that it goes straight to the Hollywood big screen. Chloe is unhappy with the casting of bad-boy Liam Hamilton, to play the wholesome perfect man of her dreams. His reputation proceeds him.
The producer concocts a scheme of fake romance between the two to boost Liam's image. They play the role well until sparks fly.
I really enjoyed this novel. It was endearing with some drama and set at the beach. You can't ask for more in a book than a good story, with a bookshop and the beach included! 4/5⭐s

I Think I Was Murdered

I Think I Was Murdered by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker
Katrina, a grieving widow goes back to her hometown after the passing of her grandmother. For a year she has used AI technology from her company to connect with her deceased husband and pretend he’s still alive. She talks to him daily for comfort and advice. One day, she asks an unexpected question on a whim, and he states” I think I was murdered “.
Katrina relies on an old friend, Seb, to help her chase down the truth. There are elements of mystery, murder, espionage, betrayal and romance. This book has it all, maybe too much. Seb was my favorite character.
The characters were so well developed and the plot was fresh and current.

I also listened to the audio book and it was so well done! The narrator Karen Peakes, did a phenomenal job and really enhanced the experience, by giving each character a voice.
Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson publishing and Colleen Coble for the pleasure of reviewing an ARC copy.
I really enjoyed the epilogue too! Overall it was enjoyable and a great thriller! 4.5/5⭐️s

Long Way Gone

Long Way Gone by Charles Martin
Without hearing the music, I could still feel it in this story!
This story touched my soul. I love music and the way it is felt, and described is so soulful. I have several favorite quotes from this book that I love.
“ I will not let the fear of what might be rob me of the promise of what can.”
“…music washes us from the inside out. It heals what nothing else can.”
“Sometimes we have to sing through the scars. Sometimes a song is the only thing that heals the broken places in us. Only thing that breaks the chains of the heart.”
Cooper O’Connor took everything his father had to offer and struck out on his on at eighteen. He was foolish and mistakes found him. Five years later, he fell in love with the most talented woman he would ever meet. Daley Cross had an angelic voice. Cooper faces tragedy and ends up back home in search of the mystery that was his father’s faith.
Daley shows up twenty years after Cooper hits rock bottom and he wonders if it’s too late for truth and honesty. He has to face his worst demon, himself.
This is a wonderful retelling of the prodigal son story, taking us through tent revivals to Nashville’s most iconic stage on the road of a broken man finding his faith.
I absolutely loved this story. Charles Martin is a favorite author and never fails to inspire me with his writing! 5+/5⭐
