Overdue by Stephanie Perkins
Ingrid and Cory have been ensconced in a package of eleven years, dating with no intention.
When Ingrid’s sister gets engaged after only two years of dating, it starts the crumble of Ingrid and Cory’s relationship.
The two have never been with other people and therein lies the biggest bump in their road to happiness. They aren’t unhappy, but blissful is not a description in their future together. So, they decide to take an experimental break and explore.
Ingrid has a target, Macon. She’s been crushing for years. A charming, curmudgeon-like co-worker with impeccable loyalty.
After a month, Ingrid and Cody still aren’t ready to commit so they extend the game.
This is a beautiful slow-burn love story, written with a threat of self-discovery. The anticipation and coming of age friendship is just breathtaking, I simply loved everything about this book!
The book itself is pure beauty, gorgeous inside and out! Stunning artwork.
A few favorite quotes-
“Sure, we were still on the same page, but our page was currently in two separate books. We were acting out two separate stories.”
“ I loved all my friends, but I especially appreciated the ones who required no training wheels, no remedial courses to slide back into the rhythm of conversation.”
“The want and need to feed people we cared about was primal, It was why families gathered for dinner. Why coworkers baked each other rum cakes. And tofu scrambles.”
“We kissed like we had forever.”
-“…you are everything. You’re literal sunshine. You light up my life and bring color into my world, and all I’ve wanted since the day we met is to bask in the warmth of your glow.”
“It’s perfect. I love that our books are sitting side by side and getting to know each other, rubbing off on each other. All of their knowledge and stories mixing together.”
This is a FIVE STAR book!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
