Rise of the Siren by A. Gordon
Coming soon!
Wow! A harrowing love story with some of the darkest magical creatures that have always seemed otherworldly folklore. You’ll never think about birds the same way!
It’s 1993, Burning Brenda is a rising star in the rock world with it’s lead singer Andrew Arie. Myka is living her best life as the band’s manager. On an Alaskan get-away, Drew disappears. Myka follows her heart to find him in the Alaskan wilderness. Her expectations of encountering dangerous wildlife goes beyond her imagination when she finds him imprisoned on an island of Sirins. The half-human, half-bird creatures are enchanting with their songs of persuasion. Populated only with the women, the island is a dangerous place for a lone man to exist.
An improbable ally shows up with some motives of her own. Is she willing to risk everything to save the pair or is their trust misplaced?
This is a captivating tale of love, lust, friendship and enchanting folklore. It has it all, friends to lovers, rockstars, jealousy, and awesome folklore. There are some triggers with this dark tale but the story is so well written, they only enhance the story.
The spice is just right to make you keep turning the pages well into the night! I loved everything about this one
My favorite quotes:
“You know, Nicky, sometimes I think I’ve seen more twigs and berries than a porn star.”
“She tried for years to get him out of her head. But it was never her head that had been the problem- it was her heart.”
“The price of love is pain.”
“And no Sirin is a chicken. Matter of fact, some of us eat chicken.”
My thoughts:
This is a beautiful love story in more than one facet. I love Myka and Drew’s story but there are others with underlying stories that are beautiful too. Anserlee’s heart is beautiful and true. The goose is my favorite character! Now I love chickens even more! Haha
The character development is phenomenal. There are characters to love and a few to hate which balances things. The setting depictions put the reader in the story alongside the characters. So well written, this one is an experience. I love how things were cleanly wrapped up in the end. The ending was wonderful! I give this one 5+/5 stars easily. I can’t wait to see what Alex comes up with next!
I want to thank Alex Gordon for the trusted opportunity to read this early and offer my honest review. It’s always a pleasure to work with talented authors.
