That Last Carolina Summer by Karen White

This was a stunning story of sisterhood, secrets, and reckoning with past transgressions.

Phoebe developed a unique gift after being struck by lightening as a child. Plagued with dreams she didn’t understand and a questionable relationship with her parents, she left and went to the West Coast.

When called home to help care for their mother, Phoebe shows up to rescue her sister, Addie, again. With the frustrating role of caring for her mother and her niece, Phoebe takes charge and is loathe to clear th air with her irresponsible sister,

This book was beautifully written, A true testament to the strength of the bond between sisters. It has romance, forgiveness, compassion and deals with the courageous efforts of caring for parents with dementia.

The relationships and characters were so well developed and weaved into the story.

I have to say Addie frustrated the hell out of me and Phoebe was heroic in her efforts to keep things together.

Celeste was just a beautiful testament to a wonderfully forgiving care giver and whole person that we could all aspire to be.

I enjoyed this so much! I have been a fan of Karen White for years. I had the pleasure of meeting her in NC several years ago!

Fabulous book! 5/5⭐
