This was a beautiful journey!

I absolutely loved this story! The style of writing was so fluid and alluring to the reader. I was swept right into the story. The beautiful character development had me captured and I loved the characters. Frankie and Rena, two unlikely friends made my list of all-time favorites!

The bond of friendship between Frankie and Rena was just phenomenal. Regardless of race of circumstance, it is just beautiful when age difference doesn’t hinder a friendship. One had a story to share and the other a burning need to listen and retell that precious story.

Summary:

Lorena Leland finds herself unemployed as a reporter after the stock market crash and her father’s role in the loss of people’s money. She takes a job with the FWP, tasked with interviewing former slaves. Her assignment leads her on a phenomenal journey of discovery and friendship with Frankie Washington, a 101-year-old former slave. She captivates Rena’s heart with her story and kindness. Their pasts have connections and Frankie’s tremendous gift of forgiveness teaches Rena more than she could imagine and both are freed from lives that would otherwise be unbearable with hate.

This was an awesome story of redemption, forgiveness, and tethered with the true history of what one woman endured.

Frankie was not burdened with hate and blossomed into a wonderful life once she let it go. The forgiveness healed her heart.

Just beautiful. 5/5⭐
