Best friends, a bookstore with coffee and wine, and an awesome dog – with murders!

Bella and Izzy, best friends forging a new venture, a bookshop with a coffee and wine bar, in an old jail. After pouring everything into their dream, they are faced with danger. A series of burglaries turned to murders, put the Town Square front and center and as business grows with the excitement of a crime spree, danger lurks everywhere.

An eccentric dreamer, perceptive to ghosts and things that go bump in the dark, Izzy depends on her four-legged side kick, Koosa. Bela, distracted by love and family drama, misses clues for danger.
The two decide to take on the mystery and help local law enforcement out, but they doubt everything and everyone, who can they trust, but each other.

This was a captivating cozy mystery. I enjoyed the elements of friendships and the suspense of a “who-done-it”.

Favorite quotes:
“It’s all she needs really. It’s all anyone needs, that one person who sees you for who you are. That one person who accepts you even after they know you. That one person who chooses to love you despite yourself. A best friend that’s all anyone needs. Well, a best friend and a dog.”

“They wanted to ensure their dream would be a place that provided all of the consolations needed in life. The encouragement and comfort found in the warm embrace of a cup of coffee. The relaxation and liberating exhale accompanying the first sip of wine. The adventure and escape of a different life lingering between the pages that new book smell. All of it gingerly wrapped in the stability and love of an undying friendship.”

“She knows the elation of letting go and being able to breathe. She is also well acquainted with the sorrow and pain and emptiness that follows when the first taste of freedom begins to fade.”
*”Every day, Izzy and I get to make a difference. We provide comfort and happiness to people every single day. We make people’s days a little better, a little easier. We have taken this place where horrible things have happened and created a place that makes people’s lives a little brighter.”

My insights- there were a lot of characters, but once you connect, you are in the story with Bela and Izzy. There is a dog, Koosa! A dog always makes a story better. The relationship between Bela and Wiatt was frustrating in a good way. The plot is a little predictable but the suspense builds and carries the story really well. I will definitely recommend this one to my friends! 4/5⭐
