The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell by Robert Dugoni

I don’t know what to say other than reading this was an extraordinary experience! What a phenomenal story! I had parked it on my TBR shelf for a while because I had heard so many good things and I wanted to savor it, and so I finally did. My only regret was waiting so long, it is an awesome story! Robert Dugoni is a talented story teller and he does a beautiful job with this one!

Sam Hill was born with a rare ocular albinism, where his pupils were red.

He was bullied and tormented even by adults because he was different.

Sam perseveres with his mother’s faith, his practical father, and his fearless friends.

Ernie Cantwell, the only black kid in Sam’s class becomes a life line for Sam and their friendship is something beautiful.

Mickie Kennedy, a fearless girl that also become a life long friend.

After 40 years, Sam finds himself as a small down eye doctor, no longer certain of why things happen.

He embarks on a journey halfway around the world that changes and defines his life.

This was so good! Sam, Ernie and Micki have earned their place in my heart, what a beautifully written story of friendship and person growth. This story has found family among friends, and overcoming the obstacles of racism and discrimination, just a beautiful testimony of how far a good friendship can carry you in life! Loved every page!

Excellent story about being different and finding purpose! 5/5⭐
