Good Dirt by Chamaine Wilkerson

Wow! This is a brilliant story and I absolutely devoured it!

A moving story, Ebby Freeman pieces her past together with the memory of her brother’s death, the loss of a beloved heirloom and a rich family legacy.

After a wedding flop, Ebby flees to France for a much-needed change. She discovers things that she needed to face about her past and her failed relationship. In her reflection of things, she explores memories after her ex-fiance confronts her in a chance encounter on a trip.

The hand-crafted pottery cherished by her family represents so much more than the stories that it has witnessed and carried. The rich history explored in the process of creating the pottery, slavery, and the story of how it traveled so far and affected so many was beautiful.

This story was epic! It is richly layered and just loaded with beautiful reflection and sentiments! It was so good!

My favorite quote: “The mind cannot be chained.”

There are multiple points of view and a somewhat dual timeline from two distinct times. It is well written, transitions well and the characters are well developed.

I found this gem in the library and I loved it so much that I bought a copy for my personal library. 5/5⭐
