The Shadows We Hide by Allen Eskens
This was a brilliant sequel to "The Life We Bury"!
Joe Talbert has never met his father. Fresh out of college with a reporting job, and trying to prove his worth, he stumbles onto a murder headline with a story he thinks is about his father.
Joe goes to a little town in southern Minnesota, out of curiosity. He finds that his father was not liked and had a bad rapport with his neighbors. Joe gets entangled with an investigation as he tries to piece together his family's story, he has to avoid being put in his own grave.
This one has a good mystery and a love story, complete with family drama and seeking forgiveness. It was well written and kept me intrigued until the end. 4/5⭐
