The Widow by John Grisham
Simon Latch is barely skating by in rural Virginia with a failing marriage and a struggling law firm.
Everything goes sideways when Eleanor Barnett shows up seeking a new will. She alleges a small fortune and claims it is unknown to most.
Simon is hooked, chasing his richest client when her story starts imploding from her hospital bed. He finds himself locked up for suspicion of murder.
From behind bars, he has to race to find the real killer before he gets sentenced.
I really enjoyed this quirky mystery and the characters. It was a little slow burning in the beginning but once the action starts, I was glued to my seat.
Latch was both frustrating, seemingly gullible and charming. I really liked getting to know him. Eleanor was tenacious, deceptive, and implorable all the at the same time. I enjoyed being irritated by her. Awesome story with well developed characters! 4.5/5⭐
