The Retirement Plan by Sue Hincenbergs
Four sets of friends are divided when one of their own is found dead. After 30 years of friendship, they want something new.
Their husbands lost their retirement with a bad investment. The golden years are pretty sad looking. When one husband dies, everything changes. His wife Marlene rebounds with a huge life insurance payout and leaves her three friends to sort out a new plan of action. A new dream comes to light when they discover their husbands have huge life insurance policies.
The women concoct a plan to put those polies to use. Things go awry and the husbands attempt to out maneuver their wives. As they all scramble to stay alive, a game of high stakes cat and mouse takes place with laugh out loud scenes.
This is a great story of reflections, marriage, friendship, forgiveness, and middle age madness. There is humor, a casino mafia and a quirky barber.
I really enjoyed this one! The only issue I had was the number of characters and the side stories involving secondary characters. There was a lot to keep track of but it did make me laugh and smile, so I loved it! 4/5⭐
I would like to Thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review an ARC of this title.
