These Blue Mountains by Sarah Loudin Thomas

This was inspiring and informative. I love stories that are set in places where I have lived or visited.

This moving tale filled with love and betrayal takes the reader across continents. Hedda Schlagel, a German pianist, has her world cave in when her fiancé, Fritz, vanishes after being sent to an enemy alien camp in the United States.

Fifteen years later she sees his name on a memorial in a photograph. Hedda sets off to America to find Fritz and bring him home to give closure to his mother.

When she arrives, she soon finds that Fritz isn’t in his grave, an unknown woman is there.

With a fifteen-year-old unsolved mystery, and Hitler’s rise in the background, Hedda fears she is homeless.

As the search for Fritz goes on, Hedda finds betrayal and sadness, but also  faced with new love. Can she forgive and move on?

Set in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, this charming tale will captivate you and probably inspire you to learn some things you didn’t know.

I loved this one, even though dark at times, it was beautifully written! 4/5⭐
