Miss Slappy Gets an Admirer: A Midlife Mismatch by Carol Ervin
This is a fun story full of quirky characters!
Slappy buys her family home for the cost of back taxes. After nine years of paying taxes without the help of siblings, she let it go to auction. Her hope is to flip it for a nice profit.
She finds that her neighbor, Fin, likes junk, he collects it. As a matter of fact, there is a junk yard next door. Fin is smitten with Slappy but she dodges him at every turn.
The growth among all of the characters is so heartwarming. It took me a little bit to get fully immersed in the story, but once I did, I was all in. There are small town politics, gossip, and lots of laugh out loud moments.
Slappy and Fin are my heroes! Fin’s selfless character just compliments Slappy.
This is more of a character driven story, rather than a plot driven, so if you love quirky characters, this is for you.
I would like to Thank Carol Ervin for allowing me to review a copy of the audiobook. The audio narration was wonderful and gave definition to the characters' voices and enhanced the overall experience of the book.
Overall, I thought this was a really good story with likeable, relatable characters. 4/5⭐
