The Night the River Wept by Lo Patrick
Let me say that I loved this one! The beautiful cover drew me in and the story did not disappoint!
Arlene is desperate to start a family, since that is currently a dream that isn't happening, she fills her time with a new job at the police department. When logging and bagging evidence is not enough, she starts to review old files. She starts reading old cold cases. She picks up the Broderick file. she is drawn to it, connected with the tragedy, and she can't put it down. The unsolved case involving three children bothers her and the way it was handled leaves her unsettled.
She recruits two women to help look into the case, to solve it. Old secrets come out and things get interesting as Arlene takes her obsession with the case to a new level.
I thought this was a really interesting book, a little slow at times but a good mystery. It is well written and the characters are well developed, I connected with Arlene. I enjoyed reading it and I look forward to reading more from Lo Patrick. 3.5/5⭐
